My Mission
Expressing happiness to ourselves and others should be our most inclusive mission as we circle around the sun. Each day as it rises, I to rise, with a burden to be that for the planet.
Maya Angelou once said “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”. To that I give you me, happiness. Happy Hysha! That name was prophetically given to me in college, in 1994.
My Metier (Profession)
“Work to become, not to acquire.” – Elbert Hubbard, a fellow native New Yorker. I have acquired five degrees, and I plan to take on even more. Most importantly, with each of the curricula, I have uncovered secret places in my brain that have quietly waltzed in the excitement of gaining what it long yearned for.
My Mindset
The most difficult for me to tame of these six is my mind. I struggle because of my idealized outlook on the world. My whimsical desire is to want to find happiness in any and everything. Life, however, has let me down many, many times. But it has taught me that the silver linings in the dense clouds take days, weeks, and sometimes years to become visible. I am not easily deterred!
My Marriage
I am blessed to have been married for almost 11 years. I have heard it said that marriage is the second most important decision of your life. I am grateful for the one God chose for me. It isn’t always easy, and I am sure my husband prays daily for the wisdom, grace, and patience to have me as a spouse. But I wouldn’t ask anyone else to put up with me. My husband is a bunch of lessons, opportunities to learn more about myself and God. Above all, I am grateful for unconditional love.
Motherhood
A satisfying, deeply sacrificial journey that I am so honored that God chose me for. Years of barrenness have made me humbled, grateful, and protective of the privilege.
But I would be remised if I didn’t express that it is also challenging, thankless, and sleepless. Hey, I love a challenge, the hugs are my thanks, and thank God for naps.
And My Money
My entire career has involved money management. Helping students save it, borrow it and hopefully pay it back.
Now I am pursuing a CPA license to help those who have graduated from college-level money better manage their adult-level money. My new mission is to use my knowledge to help others use their money for good to edify His kingdom and manage funds for individuals, colleges, companies, and governments.
